Storyline

El misterio de un sueño ahogado.

Sinopsis

El documental Mansión de Invierno se busca,  nos cuenta sobre la existencia de un gran emprendimiento arquitectónico y turístico que tuvo lugar a principios del siglo XX en la provincia de Corrientes, Mauro Santamaria que es correntino y entusiasta por las cosas del pasado va hilvanando esta historia en base a los testimonios de los parroquianos del lugar.  

Mauro se vale de pruebas fehacientes. Obtiene el plano original de la construcción. Rastrea detalles sobre las peripecias que los empresarios de la época debieron atravesar para cumplir con el sueño de la Mansión de Invierno.

Por otro lado le interesa saber si en la actualidad en la localidad de Empedrado la gente conoce la Mansión,  comprueba mediante preguntas que la mayoría tiene información  y que mucha gente mayor  conserva algún objeto en su casa.

Otros datos que enriquecen la historia son la procedencia de los huéspedes: el príncipe de Gales, la reina de Holanda, la actriz francesa Sarah Bernhardt y  demás personalidades de la nobleza y de la farándula mundial de la época.

Indaga luego los motivos de la  desaparición de la mansión y las circunstancias  políticas y económicas de entonces que han hecho que el gran hotel Continental cierre sus puertas.

Mauro intenta llegar hasta el lugar dónde estaba emplazada la famosa mansión, le informan que dicho lugar es propiedad privada y que sus actuales dueños impiden cualquier tipo de visita al terreno. No obstante ello, sostiene que no se puede culminar el documental sin mostrar la mansión o lo que quedó de ella.

Una entrada clandestina de Mauro y su equipo lo hacen recorrer las ruinas donde otrora estaba emplazado uno de los edificios más importantes del país.

Synopsis

The documental ‘Winter Mansion, wanted’ tells us about the existence of a great architectonic and touristic enterprise that took place at the beginning of the 20^th Century in Corrientes province. Mauro Santamaría, a Correntinian who is enthusiastic about things from the past, goes basting this story taking into account what local people say.

Mauro uses strong evidences. He gets the original plan of the construction. He also tracks the details down about the vicissitudes that the businessmen of that time had to go through to make Winter Mansion’s dream come true.

On the other side, he wants to know if people from Empedrado city currently know about the Mansion. He asks some questions and proves that most people have some kind of information and that many older people still keep some of the mansion’s objects in their houses.

Information about the provenance of the hosts also enriches the history: the Prince of Wales, the Queen of Netherlands, the French actress Sarah Bernhardt and other celebrities from the worldwide nobility and show business of the time. He inquires, then, the reasons why the mansion disappeared and the circumstances, political and economical, that have made the great Continental Hotel close its doors.

Mauro tries to get to the place where it was located the famous mansion. He is told that such place is a private property and that its current owners impede any kind of visit to the field. However, he says that he cannot finish the documental without showing the mansion or what is left of it.

Mauro and his staff enter illegally and they walk around the ruins where one of the most important buildings of the country was located.

Process

In the story, there is an upward linearity stressed by the rhythm that expresses itself in the discovery of the events (data from the interviewed, detailed close-ups of the utilitarian objects and insertion of pictures) to remark the suspense almost at the end of the story (the entrance to the place) 

The structure is presented as a puzzle whose data are developing progressively until its partial resolution at the half of the second part. Here it is presented an opposition (the lack of support on the part of the local government to get into the land) and this opposition reinforces the outcome (the difficulty in arriving to the ruins)

From the point of view of the visual aspect, the iceberg theory is worked out. The building itself (the main character of the story) is presented even from the credits but in a flapped way, through file images, using slow motion, up to progressively complete the story through a succession of images that form the puzzle-like structure of the script.

The public scenes will have a broad daylight treatment, suggesting contemporaneity and everyday life. Meanwhile, the images of some stairs of the mansion will give to this situation the possibility of the existence of a burning haze, as if it were an indefinite land. In this place, the haze will dissipate slowly as far as the ruins are discovered. The thickness of the vegetation of the place will also contribute to that effect.

In general, close shots predominate in the documental, while slow and fluid motion is worked on the final scenes of the ruins together with a the use of camera at hand in the path with vegetation and travelling with the support of classical music.
